How Our Process Works

Incinerator:

At our Raipur facility the Biomedical waste destructed by the combustion of organic substances contained in biomedical waste materials. Solid biomedical waste (category1) is treated by thermal treatment through incinerator and converts the biomedical waste into ash, flue gas, and heat. The ash is mostly formed by the inorganic constituents of the waste and may take the form of solid lumps or particulates carried by the flue gas. The flue gases are cleaned and gaseous and particulate pollutants before they are dispersed into the atmosphere by means of air pollution control devices such as ventury and scubbers.

Facility has 5 TPD Incinerator with Primary and secondary chambers. In a primary chamber, we are maintaining 800 deg temperatures and in secondary chamber 1050 deg temperature is maintained which ensures complete destruction of waste subjected to incineration. Auxiliary burners are provided at primary and secondary chambers for a complete destruction of hazardous waste.

Scrubbing mechanism is provided to achieve prescribed flue gas parameters as per biomedical waste rules 2016. Residence time in a secondary chamber for flue gases is 2 sec. We are monitoring Dioxin and Furan once in a year.

Autoclave:

The Raipur BMW facility has -TPD autoclave facility dedicated for the purposes of disinfecting and treating bio-medical waste. Each batch of autoclave operated at Temperature 121⁰C, Pressure 15 PSI & Residence time is 45 Minutes. Post autoclaving material is sent to shredding machine and material is given to authorized recycler after shredding.

Red Category: Recyclable Biomedical Wastes generated from disposable items such as tubing, bottles, intravenous tubes and sets, catheters, urine bags, syringes (without needles and fixed needle syringes) and vaccutainers with their needles cut) and gloves are Autoclaved and disinfected.

White category: Biomedical waste such (Waste sharps including Metals) as Needles, syringes with fixed needles, needles from needle tip cutter or burner, scalpels, blades, or any other contaminated sharp object that may cause puncture and cuts. This includes both used, discarded and contaminated metal sharps are subjected to autoclaving.
To validate the performance of autoclave we are doing validation test for autoclave in every quarter. We are also doing spore testing on a weekly basis as per hazardous waste rules 2016.

Chemical Disinfection

Raipur facility has 4TPD chemical disinfection facility dedicated for the purposes of disinfecting and treating bio-medical waste. A facility is provided for chemical disinfection and post-disinfection waste is shredded and sold to an authorized recycler.

Blue category biomedical waste is treated such as Broken or discarded and contaminated glass including medicine vials and ampoules except those contaminated with cytotoxic wastes and Metallic Body Implants.
The facility is designed for Chemical treatment using at least 10% Sodium Hypochlorite having 30% residual chlorine for twenty minutes or any other equivalent chemical reagent that should demonstrate Log104 reduction efficiency for microorganisms.

Shredder:

The facility has 100 Kg/Hour shredding facility and post chemical treatment or autoclaving plastic waste is shredded into small pieces so that it cannot be used and send to an authorized plastic recycler for reprocessing for further reuse. The shaft is made of high strength steel alloys fitted with cutters having an angular way. Cutters are made of High-speed steel which is heat treated to avoid damage due to sharp shred waste, syringes, scalpels, glass vials, I.V sets, rubber gloves, plastic materials, etc. Special Hoppers designed for a shredder with Ram assistance to push the material in cutting chamber. Proper Guarding is provided to reduce man-machine interfaces.
